Day after day I see comments posted by folks that say that they will never vote for Obama because fo the way that the "played the race card" and smeared the Clintons as race-baiters.
It was the media, not the Obama campaign, that forced the race issue. They love this stuff. Look at the media frenzy over ANYTHING remotely racial said in the campaign. It's the media, pure and simple.
But more importantly, here's how I know that Obama did not play the race card: because bringing race into the campaign LOSES Obama votes. He loses many more white votes than he gains black votes.. Why would Obama choose a strategy that panders to a minority constituency and alienates the majority? Say what you will about Obama, he's run a very smart and disciplined campaign.
I am trying to understand the anger directed at Barack Obama at MyDD and other websites. A lot of this anger seems to be based on the derisive way that Clinton has been treated by the media (including the blogosphere). Clearly during this election (and indeed for all of Clinton's career) there have been people that are irrationally hostile toward Clinton. And clearly there have been a lot of mean-spirited and misogynist comments made toward Clinton that have no place in a presidential campaign.
Except these comments HAVEN'T been part of a presidential campaign - at least not Obama's. Neither Obama nor any of his top surrogates have been anything less than respectful toward Clinton. And those that cross the line (e.g. Samantha Powers' "monster" comment) have been dismissed from Obama's campaign.
So I want to hear first-hand from folks that are angry: what is the cause of your anger at Obama?
